7th December 2002 - London

Neil has said that 'London' will not be released in the UK, which he thinks is a pity.

6th December 2002 - Disco 3

After the release of 'Please', came 'Disco' the remix album in November 1986. 'Very' was followed by 'Disco 2' the Danny Rampling non-stop megamix in September 1994. 'Release' will be followed by 'Disco 3' in February 2003.
However, unlike the first two 'Disco' albums, 'Disco 3' will include new dance tracks recorded during the 'Release' sessions. The full track listing is as follows:

Time On My Hands
Positive Role Model
Try It (I'm In Love With A Married Man)
London - Thee Radikal Blaklite Edit
Somebody Else's Business
Here - PSB New Extended Mix
If Looks Could Kill
Sexy Northerner - Superchumbo Mix
Home And Dry - Blank & Jones Remix
London - Genuine Piano Mix

'Positive Role Model' and 'Somebody Else's Business' were recorded in Berlin with Chris Zippel at the same time as 'London'. 'Try It (I'm In Love With A Married Man)' is the Pet Shop Boys' version of a 1983 Bobby 'O' track. A different version was heard on Radio 1's John Peel Session a few weeks ago. 'If Looks Could Kill' is a new recording of a Pet Shop Boys track also heard on the John Peel Session. 'Time On My Hands' was written and recorded at the end of 2000 and has been recently completed and mixed. It features vocals by both Neil and Chris.
'Disco 3' will be released internationally by Parlophone/EMI in early/mid February 2003. A limited edition, three-disc vinyl version will also be issued with an enhanced track listing including 'Somebody Else's Business - Extended Mix', 'London - Westbam In Berlin Mix' and more. Full details to be announced shortly.

Stephen Fry is currently directing his first feature film 'Bright Young Things', which is based on the Evelyn Waugh book, 'Vile Bodies'. Neil and Chris are working on two tracks for the film. The songs are 'The Party's Over Now' (a Noel Coward cover), and a new track of theirs called 'Bright Young Things'. This information is not yet confirmed.

25th November 2002 - Statement From Neil

I mentioned that someone had said they had spoken to Neil, and Neil had said that 'It Doesn't Often Snow At Christmas' would be released in time for the Christmas chart. Neil had this to say:

The rumour is a complete fantasy and fabrication - the sort of thing the internet exists to spread.
If we were releasing a single in a couple of weeks, plus a tour etc, I think we would have already announced it on our website!

Best wishes,
Neil

John Peel invited Pet Shop Boys when they headlined the Sonar festival in Barcelona earlier this year, and realised that they had never recorded a session for his show. This prompted them to do something completely different for the show. They have adopted a back to basics approach towards the set with fully live guitars, bass and drums on stage. The tracks they have recorded for the session are:

A Powerful Friend
If Looks Could Kill
Try It (I'm In Love With A Married Man)

'I Get Along' only spent 1 week in the top 40 of the singles chart. It entered the chart at Number 18 last week, and dropped out of the top 40 yesterday to number 45.

'I Get Along' is now the Boys sixth worst ever chart position behind, 'Love Comes Quickly' - Number 19, 'Being Boring' - Number 20, 'Was It Worth It?' - Number 24, the original release of 'Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money)' - Number 116 and the original release of 'West End Girls' - Number 121. The Pet Shop Boys have co-written a track for a young Japanese singer called Miu It all came about by a friend of Neil and Chris' who they used to work with and who now works for the Toshiba EMI record label in Japan. He asked them if they could give her a track. They gave her a track which they had recently written which Neil had written a melody without any clear lyrics, though it was called 'All Or Nothing'. Neil can be heard on singing repeated backing vocals on the track which were taken from their demo version, he is singing "and there she goes". 'All Or Nothing' is on Mui's debut album 'M.I.U.' which was released last Wednesday 17th April 2002 in Japan. Buy 'M.I.U.' on CD through Amazon.co.jp.
For more information about Mui visit her offical website, Miu:seum. Although most of it is in Japanese there is a message on Mui's website from Neil about 'All Or Nothing':

We both love the track. I love the fact that they've taken the demo and just improved on it rather than change it completely so the original vibe is there but better! The vocal sounds perfect and I love it when she suddenly goes into English on 'Happy birthday to you'.
It MUST be a single, I assume?
Anyway, congratulations to Miu and you and the producers.
Love
Neil
