This week in the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) 'Say It To Me' went up 22 places to number 68, 'The Pop Kids' went down 11 places to number 98 and 'Twenty-Something' re-entered at number 99.

22nd December 2016 - Super German Radio

On Sunday 1st January 2017 at 11pm (CET) the German radio station WDR2 will broadcast highlights of Pet Shop Boys' recent concert at the Palladium Köln, Cologne. Recorded on Sunday 27th November 2016, the broadcast will include Pet Shop Boy hits alongside songs from 'Super' and 'Electric'.

16th December 2016 - UK Chart

4th December 2016 - Tinderbox Festival 2017

The Pet Shop Boys will bring the 'Super Tour' production to the Tinderbox Festival in Denmark next in June 2017. The festival runs from 22nd - 24th of June 2017 in the city of Odense, and the Pet Shop Boys will perform on Saturday 24th June 2017. Other artists playing include Kings Of Leon, Tove Lo and many more. Tickets for Tinderbox 2017 are on sale now.

3rd December 2016 - Billboard Top Dance Artists

It has just been announced that the Pet Shop Boys are the top male artists and group in the history of the Billboard Dance Chart in the USA and the fifth most successful artists ever behind Madonna, Janet Jackson, Rihanna and Beyonce.

2nd December 2016 - UK Chart

This week in the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) 'Say It To Me' went down 31 places to number 50 and 'Twenty-Something' went down 21 places to number 77.

28th November 2016 - Orchestral Show With Johnny Marr

The Pet Shop Boys will play a special one off London show next spring in support of Teenage Cancer Trust, taking place at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 2nd April 2017. They will be joined by Johnny Marr and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra for a night of orchestrated songs.
"This will be a very special night for us, performing with Johnny Marr and the Royal Philharmonic." Neil and Chris revealed, "We have often combined electronics with orchestrations on our records and now we’re going to do this in concert. Johnny has played on many of our albums and it will be a real thrill to have him on stage with us. The Teenage Cancer Trust is a wonderful organisation and we are delighted to be able to take part in this annual series of concerts which helps to fund their essential work."
Tickets for the show go on sale from at 9am on Friday 2nd December 2016. Proceeds from all tickets sales will go to Teenage Cancer Trust.

20th November 2016 - The European Super Tour Starts

The Pet Shop Boys begin the first European leg of their 'Super Tour' on Saturday in Leipzig with dates following in Germany, Netherlands, Denmark and Russia. For all the Pet Shop Boys' tour dates see the Tour Dates page.

11th November 2016 - The House Of The Windy City

An extended version of the radio documentary, 'The House Of The Windy City - Dance Music's Forgotten Heroes', has been released. This longer edition includes more interview footage from the Pet Shop Boys, as the documentary explores the rise of House music in America with DJ Dave Pearce traveling to Chicago to speak with influential DJs and producers of the Chicago House scene.
The show can be heard on the BBC World Service website.

31st October 2016 - South Bank Originals

On Wednesday 2nd November 2016, at 10.15pm, Sky Arts in the UK will broadcast an episode of 'South Bank Originals' in which Melvyn Bragg looks back on his 1992 South Bank Show documentary with the Pet Shop Boys and reflects on their remarkable rise to stardom. Neil and Chris talk about their musical influences approach to songwriting, their devotion to pop, their image, unconventional performance style and elaborate stage tours. Also speaking in 1992, Liza Minnelli comments on the Pet Shop Boys' distinctive sound and songwriting talent, as well as her experience working with them. The programme also features Melvyn Bragg's reflections with additional contributions from music journalist, Dorian Lynskey.

29th October 2016 - UK Chart

This week in the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) 'Say It To Me' went down 3 places to number 9, 'Twenty-Something' went down 66 places to number 99 and 'The Pop Kids' went down 36 places to number 71. Meanwhile 'Love Life' re-entered at number 75.

25th October 2016 - Radio Eins

The Pet Shop Boys have produced an hour-long show for the Berlin-based radio station, Radio Eins, sequencing and introducing their choice of music. The show is part of a series entitled 'Freundliche Übernahme' which also includes shows presented by The Edge and Stephen and Gillian of New Order. Neil and Chris's show will be broadcast tonight at 6pm CET.

24th October 2016 - Pete Burns 1959-2016

The singer Pete Burns, who founded the band Dead Or Alive, has died of a cardiac arrest aged 57. He rose to fame in the 1980s with the band's hit song 'You Spin Me Round (Like A Record)' released in 1984. The Pet Shop Boys collaborated with Pete Burns on 'Jack And Jill Party', released on the Pet Shop Boys' Olde English Vinyl label in 2004. Condolences and sympathy to his family.

21st October 2016 - UK Chart

This week in the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) 'Say It To Me' went up 3 places to number 6 and 'Twenty-Something' went up 1 place to number 33 and 'The Pop Kids' went up 5 places to number 35.

20th October 2016 - The Late Late Show

The Pet Shop Boys have had to cancel their performance today on 'The Late Late Show With James Corden'. Unfortunately Neil came down with food poisoning. Neil said, "Thanks to James and his team for being so understanding. For the record, we were going to perform 'Burn' Neil. x"

18th October 2016 - The Late Late Show

The Pet Shop Boys will be musical guests on 'The Late Late Show With James Corden' on Thursday 20th October 2016, on CBS TV. The following day they will travel to Las Vegas to begin their 'Super Tour' of North America.

14th October 2016 - UK Chart

13th October 2016 - The Super Tour Starts

The Pet Shop Boys' 'Super Tour' starts tonight in Santiago, Chile. This first leg of the tour will visit Chile, Argentina, USA and Canada. The Pet Shop Boys have been rehearsing in Santiago this week with their musicians and crew. On Saturday they'll be performing in Buenos Aires, Argentina, before travelling to Las Vegas to begin their North American tour. For all the Pet Shop Boys' tour dates see the Tour Dates page.

23rd September 2016 - UK Chart

This week 'Say It To Me' failed to enter the singles chart top 100 due to the new chart regulations which now include audio streams. But 'Say It To Me' did enter the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) at number 1 and entered the sales singles chart (sales of CDs, vinyl and downloads) at number 49. Also in the physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) 'Inner Sanctum' went up 22 places to number 19, 'Twenty-Something' went down 5 places to number 13 and 'The Pop Kids' re-entered at number 66.

12th August 2016 - Super Show In Mexico

The Pet Shop Boys will bring the 'Super Tour' to Mexico later this year when they play at the Corona Capital festival on Saturday 19th November 2016. The two-day festival will see over 40 other artists perform including The Killers, Kraftwerk, LCD Soundsystem and Air. Ticket pre-sales begin Tuesday 23rd August 2016 and Wednesday 24th August 2016 from 11:00am CST, followed by a general sale on Thursday 25th August 2016.

5th August 2016 - UK Chart

30th July 2016 - Super Show In Paris

The Pet Shop Boys will return to France next year, with a 'Super Tour' date in Paris on Tuesday 28th February 2017 at the Olympia Bruno Coquatrix music hall. Tickets are now on sale.

29th July 2016 - UK Chart

27th July 2016 - Super Tour Begins In Chile

The Pet Shop Boys will perform in Santiago, Chile, later this year, at the Espacio Riesco Convention Center on Thursday 13th October 2016. This will be the first date of the 'Super Tour', which will visit South and North America, Europe and the UK over the course of 2016 and 2017. The production will be based on the recent Royal Opera House shows. Tickets for the Santiago show go on sale on Thursday 28th July 2016.

26th July 2016 - Second Super Show In Oakland

A second 'Super Tour' date has been announced for Friday 28th October 2016, at the Fox Theatre, Oakland, USA, the day after the first show at the Californian venue. The VIP pre-sale will begin tomorrow, at 10am local time. A fan pre-sale follows the next day, with general sales commencing on Friday 29th July 2016.

Es Devlin was creative director of the show and Lynne Page stage director and choreographer.

19th July 2016 - UK Super Tour

As the Pet Shop Boys get ready to perform four sold-out shows this week at the Royal Opera House in London, they are pleased to announce that they will return to the UK early next year. The 'Super Tour' will visit six cities in February 2017. The UK dates are:

The 'Super Tour' will see the Pet Shop Boys performing songs from their new album, 'Super', as well as classic hits and album tracks from over the past 30 years of their career, with a production based on the Royal Opera House shows.

17th July 2016 - Inner Sanctum Shows

The Pet Shop Boys' four 'Inner Sanctum' shows at the Royal Opera House in London take place this week from Wednesday to Saturday. If you have tickets, please note that the shows start at 8pm and will finish just before 10pm. The main bar in the Opera House will be open until 11pm for after-show refreshments.

12th July 2016 - Dusty Springfield And Cicero

On Friday 26th August 2016 Collector's Editions of Dusty Springfield's 'Reputation' album and Cicero's 'Future Boy' album will be released. Both albums are remastered and feature extra tracks and remixes.

11th July 2016 - The House of the Windy City

The Pet Shop Boys have contributed to a documentary, 'The House of the Windy City - Dance Music's Forgotten Heroes', which will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on Tuesday 12th July 2016 at 11.30am. The documentary explores the rise of House music in America, with DJ Dave Pearce traveling to Chicago to speak with influential DJs and producers of the Chicago House scene that came out of the clubs to dominate dance and pop music worldwide.
Following its first broadcast, the documentary will also be repeated on Saturday 16th July 2016, followed by an extended version being played on BBC World.

7th July 2016 - BBC 6 Music

The Pet Shop Boys will take over BBC 6 Music as they host the 7pm radio show live tomorrow, Friday 8th June 2016. Sitting in for Iggy Pop, Neil and Chris will use the two-hour show to play a selection of the music that has inspired and influenced them over the years.
BBC 6 Music can be heard digitally, using the internet, DAB radio or digital televisions.

1st July 2016 - Physical Singles Chart Number 1

The Pet Shop Boys gained their second number 1 in a row in the UK physical singles chart (sales of CDs and vinyl) with 'Twenty-Something' today. This is the second single to reach number from the album, 'Super', following on from the success of 'The Pop Kids' at the end of March 2016.

To celebrate the 50th episode of Elton John's Apple Music radio show, 'Rocket Hour', Neil will join Elton to chat and play music they've both chosen.

The Pet Shop Boys will bring the 'Super Tour' to Argentina on Saturday 15th October 2016, performing at BUE Festival 2016. Iggy Pop, Wilco and The Libertines are among the artists also appearing with more to be announced. The acclaimed music festival will take place at the Tecnópolis Exhibition in Buenos Aires. Pre-sale tickets for the festival will begin on Friday 3rd June 2016 from 1am. The general on sale will be just over a week later on Sunday 12th June 2016.

10th May 2016 - Super Tour

The Pet Shop Boys are delighted to announce the first leg of their new 'Super Tour'. Starting in October, the dates include shows in the USA, Canada, Germany, Holland, Denmark and Russia, with tickets going on sale from Wednesday 11th May 2016. More dates, including the UK, will be announced later on in the year.
The 'Super Tour' will see the Pet Shop Boys performing songs from their acclaimed new album, 'Super', as well as classic PSB hits and album tracks from over the past 30 years. The tour will be staged by designer Es Devlin and choreographer Lynne Page with music arrangements by Stuart Price. For all the Pet Shop Boys' tour dates see the Tour Dates page.

10th May 2016 - New Single

The next single to be released from the 'Super' album will be, 'Twenty-Something', released on digital and CD formats on Friday 17th June 2016. Information about the bonus tracks and remixes on the single formats will be announced shortly. The video for the song was directed by Gavin Filipiak, who caught the attention of the Pet Shop Boys when he directed the video for a cover of 'West End Girls' by the US 'Cholo Goth' group, Prayers. His video for the Pet Shop Boys places the 'Twenty-Something' of the song in the harsh reality of Sherman Heights, San Diego, and gives a new context and perspective to the single’s lyrics and themes. 7th May 2016 - Further Listening 1999-2012

The Pet Shop Boys have prepared expanded remastered versions of the albums they recorded between 1999-2012: 'Nightlife', 'Release', 'Fundamental', 'Yes' and 'Elysium'. All albums will be reissued with 'Further Listening' discs like the reissues released in 2001. They will collect related recordings from the same era of the album, including many unreleased versions and previously unheard songs with compendious sleeve notes. The extra discs were compiled in the Spring of 2015 for potential release later last year, but it was decided to delay until after the release of 'Super'. It's now unsure whether they will be released later in 2016, or sometime in 2017 depending on the outcome of discussions with Parlophone/Warners. "But," Neil said, "They're all ready to go."

Don't forget that 'Brick England' is released today on the new Jean-Michel Jarre album, 'Electronica 2: The Heart Of Noise'. The Pet Shop Boys have collaborated with Jean-Michel Jarre on his new album, which is released Worldwide today. Neil and Chris accepted Jean-Michel's invitation to collaborate together on a new song for the album. Working with an instrumental track by Jarre, they added music and lyrics to create the new song, 'Brick England'. The lyrics are in part inspired by a passage from Charles Dickens' novel, 'Hard Times'.

Last year it was announced that the Pet Shop Boys Club would close, while confirming that the official Pet Shop Boys magazine, Literally, would continue to be published but on an annual basis. Issue 42 of Literally will be posted soon to any former Club members who are still owed issues under the terms of their membership.
For everyone else, the new issue of the magazine is available to purchase directly from the offical Pet Shop Boys store, price Ł7.50 plus postage and packing. Highlights of this new 56-page Literally include detailed interviews with Neil and Chris about the creation of the new 'Super' album plus a diary of its writing and production, an interview with 'Super' producer Stuart Price, exclusive photos, news and behind-the-scenes reports, and a selection of your letters answered.

31st March 2016 - Zaha Hadid 1950-2016

The Pet Shop Boys are shocked and sad to hear of the sudden death of the magnificent Zaha Hadid, an artist, innovator and, for us, a dream collaborator. She fought to get her highly original work made and became one of the greatest architects of our time. She was the most incredible person and we feel privileged to have known her.

29th March 2016 - Super Pop-Up Store

Last week it was announced that a special pop-up store in London to mark the release of the 'Super' album on Friday 1st April 2106. The Super Store will be located in Boxpark Shoreditch, Unit 26, Braithwaite Street, E1 6GY.
The 'Super' Store will sell a range of new Pet Shop Boys merchandise, including t-shirts in five different designs, iPhone cases, a signed screen print (edition of 100), badges, and signed Super CDs and vinyl (while stocks last). There will also be listening stations with Bang & Olufsen Play headphones so visitors can listen to the album. The shop will open from Friday 1st April - Sunday 3rd April 2016, trading 11am to 7pm (Friday and Saturday) and 12pm to 6pm on Sunday.

The Pet Shop Boys will join radio DJ Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show today, where he will interviewing Neil and Chris, and world premiere the new song 'Happiness'. The show is broadcast online worldwide through the Apple iTunes Store and you access it using the link below this article. Following its Beats 1 first play, 'Happiness' will also be made immediately available to anyone who has already pre-ordered Super on iTunes. The album can be ordered ahead of its release on digital and physical formats.

21st March 2016 - Super Pop-Up Store

Bang & Olufsen in conjunction with Worth Retail will be hosting an exclusive 'Super' pop-up shop in London selling signed CD and vinyl copies of the new 'Super' album as well as 'Super' t-shirts, badges, iPhone cases, and a limited edition screen print. The shop will be open for three days only, from Friday 1st April - Sunday 3rd April 2016. Full details will be announced next week.

4th March 2016 - USA Billboard Chart

'The Pop Kids' is the Hot Shot Debut in the latest Billboard Dance Club Songs chart in the USA. At number 28, it is the highest new entry in the chart dated 19th March 2016. Remixes by MK, Offer Nissim and the Scene Kings have just been delivered and will soon be serviced to clubs. Details of a vinyl and digital commercial release of these remixes will be announced shortly.

3rd March 2016 - International Music Summit

The Pet Shop Boys have been announced as special guest speakers at the International Music Summit (IMS), taking place in the Hard Rock Hotel, Ibiza from Wednesday 25th - Friday 27th May 2016. IMS Ibiza is built around a programme of live talks, debates, master classes and parties that feature artists and industry professionals within the electronic music scene.
Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe will make a special appearance in The Pete Tong Interview to discuss their career in detail, including their collaborations with and remixes by artists like David Morales, the KLF and Shep Pettibone. The Pet Shop Boys have collaborated with electronic music legend Jean-Michel Jarre on a new song entitled 'Brick England'. 'The Pop Kids', the first single from the forthcoming new album, 'Super', will be released on Friday 18th March 2016 on CD, on a digital download bundle and a 12" vinyl will follow later in March. 'The Pop Kids - PSB Deep Dub' and 'The Pop Kids - The Full Story' versions are remixes by the Pet Shop Boys including additional vocals and, in the case of 'The Pop Kids - The Full Story', an extra verse which brings the story of 'The Pop Kids' up to the present. 'In Bits' was produced and mixed by Stuart Price. 'One-Hit Wonder' was produced by the Pet Shop Boys and mixed by Pete Gleadall. It is a new version of an instrumental track written in late 1981 and remade in 2014 as the theme for Berlin’s online music show, 'The One-Hit Parade'. This is the first time the full track has been released. A remix of 'The Pop Kids' by MK (Marc Kinchen) will also be released on digital only on Friday 18th March 2016. 3rd February 2016 - Pet Shop Boys Documentary

'Pet Shop Boys Documentary', a four-part series of hour-long programmes, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 next month, 30 years after the release of Pet Shop Boys' first album, 'Please'. Starting on Wednesday 23rd March 2016, at 10pm, the series will feature specially recorded in-depth interviews with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe, plus contributions from key collaborators, commentators and admirers.
Part One will be narrated by Graham Norton and will focus on the 'Please', 'Actually', 'Introspective', 'Behaviour', 'Very' and 'Bilingual' album eras. Part Two, airing the following evening, Thursday 24th March 2016, at 10pm, will be devoted to 'Nightlife', 'Release', 'Fundamental', 'Yes' and 'Elysium'. Parts Three and Four of the series will be broadcast the following week and focus on the Pet Shop Boys' many creative collaborations and finally on the creation of their new album, 'Super', which is released on Friday 1st April 2016.

Today is the 30th anniversary of 'West End Girls' reaching number 1 in the UK Charts. On Sunday 5th January 1986 'West End Girls' became the Pet Shop Boys' first ever number 1 single. The full Official Singles Chart Top 100 on that day is on the Official Charts website.
